GPR is a reliable method for assessing pavement condition and measuring pavement layer thickness.
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is the ideal technique for performing pavement condition survey of roads and runways to detect layer interfaces, measuring asphalt thickness (or broadly pavement layer thickness), changes in construction and highlight areas for further, intrusive investigation methods. GPR is also able to provide an indication of increased moisture content, identify wet areas, and detect other features such as voids and delamination.
Ground Penetration Radar technology is fully non-intrusive and non-destructive (NDT) which means that the scanned road or runway surface will not get damaged.
Also, in comparison to the conventional core sampling, which offers only localized information, GPR survey will provide continuous road profile whilst causing less traffic disruption.
